Unit 9 Evaluation

The task that i was given was to create 3 different purposes which which where Nature or decay, school brochure and a photo essay. We where given the option of deciding what we wanted each of the purposes to be about. For instance  chose to do Nature. We where given time to go out and take pictures for the individual purposes. I took pictures of flowers outside in the fields, for the school brochure we have to take pictures of what the school looks like its like but from different angles when using the camera.For the photo essay i decided to do do it on the school boarding house. The task that we were given was to present our work in a Presentation, blogging it onto our blogger as  video. Some of the nature picture presenting them on flicker.

In the Nature and Decay i chose to do my work on Nature because its something that is more about things that are like so i took pictures of flowers, trees as they are things that symbolize Nature. I wanted to show the audience the skills that i can use when taking a picture with the camera and using photoshop to change the layout that an image can turn from just being plain into something that can be displayed with more color or some simple editing that can be done to it i was trying to interpret the pictures in the most interesting way. 

The Pictures that i took in my School Brochure i decided to take pictures of areas of the school that i thought would make the school look more interesting. I took pictures of places such as the PE lessons, People walking in the corridor in between lessons. The purpose of the Brochure was to attract new students who may want to attend or parents who are looking for a school to send their students to attend.
The purpose of the Photo essay was to take pictures of a curtain topic and the topic that i picked was the boarding house. I picked the boarding house becasuse many people said that they didnt know about the boarding and because i live here i though that it would be able to get an inside view of what people do in the everyday life in the boarding house.

The Task that i enjoyed the most was taking pictures of the boarding house and being able to use photoshop to turn it into the way that i think the image would look best in. Also when i was taking pictures of the students in the boarding it was a very interesting. Doing the topic of the boarding house made it more intestesting for me because its something that very different for me to do. I love living in the boarding because i get to meet different people and I wanted the audience to be able to see what a typical day in the boarding house is liike.

The one thing that i least enjoyed out of all the tasks was doing the annotations because i just didnt know what to write or say i found it very difficult annotating the pictures that i had already taken. I found it hard remembering what exactly i had done it was also so hard trying to put what i had done into words written down.

The bottom picture is my own version of a school brochure. At the top is a professional picture when comparing the two images i would say that they both portray the school in a good way. They both look appealing to the audience. The thing that makes them both different is that the professional picture does not have a lot of pictures it only has a few its just that it has been used on the page more than once where as the brochure that i created i also didn't use a lot of pictures but i just enlarged them so that they look bigger. 

I improved my photography skills because before i did this i had no idea how to change the settings on a camera that well. At the start i had to ask my friends and teacher how by using the camera can cause a different compared to when using it on the just the normal settings. It took time and constant learning how to do different things and in the end i was aware of what was needed to be done. 

My skills in editing improved as i was learning new things on youtube about to make effects and change a picture's layout. In the beginning i found it so hard because i didn't know what i was doing especially when i was editing the Nature images i didn't know what to do in order to make the image look better. I then learnt about angle cropping, how to use the shortcuts on the keyboards and found out information from a friend new photoshop skills. 

I presented my work in different ways this i because i wanted my work to have a wide range presentations for instance i displayed my work on flickr. photoshop and powerpoint. 

I created a questionnaire online so that people could answer them and give me a feedback on what they thought about my work so i passed it on to my friends and classmates to answer the questions. I managed to get out of my questionnaire is what people liked and what i could have done to improve my work.

Boarding house

I decided to crop down in order to zoom into the picture i then changed the level color. I wanted to make the girls stand out in the image  

School Fence

When editing the fence i wanted something that would make it stand out more so i decided to make curves on the image this meant that i could control the color. I also Cropped the image to get rid of all the bits of the image that i didn't need. I wanted to make the school look more interesting. I wanted to make it look more appealing. 

Boys In Sport

When i took the picture i took it from a far distance so i wanted to make it look more close up to make the audience looking at the picture have a clear view of what the boys are doing in their PE lesson. I decided to crop the image down so that the activity of what the boys were doing was centered. You can see up close what the boys are doing.

Students walking

I edited the image by cropping it down so that you can have a close up shot of the boys walking in the school I then changed the colors used in the curves to add a little bit more color into the image. I wanted to make the focus on the two boys walking instead of having so much fence in the background. By adjusting the curves and the different colors in the image. 

Girls in the Class room

I decided to use the crop tool ti cut  the image and make it smaller so that the girls are more in the centre and also because i didn't need all the other things in the background. So that it was at an angle, I then decided to make the image black and white.

Brochure 1

When using photoshop i decided to make the image so that there was a focus but not erasing anything. The techniques that i used was that i blurred out the bits that i thought weren't necessary which was the outside layer of the image. 

Nature

When i took the image i made sure that the camera was set on macro, I chose this flower because of where it was located. As it had a dark background. I put the flash light on. In photoshop i croped out all the bits that i didnt need to use and using the image curves i managed to bring out more of the colours, this is because i wanted the purple part to appear bigger.

When i took this picture i had the flash light on and when i took the picture there were more flowers around it, so i decided to crop it down, I also adjusted some of the colours by using colour balance. I wanted to add more colour to the flower so added a bit of a shade of red, red and blue.

When taking the picture i used the macro setting on the camera after importing it into photoshop i brought out the yellow hues in the arrangement and zoomed in to make the flower heads the focal point

when taking a picture of this picture i had to made sure that the setting of the camera was on flowers with a flash, i took a close up shot directly aiming it in the middle of the flower. i carefully chose the background i wanted to take the picture so that only the pink is the point of view its the first thing that someone looks at. i zoomed in using the camera to capture the centre of the image this was macromedia settings this helped me take the image. 

when taking the picture i had to make sure that the camera was on Macro media, i also used the flash light this helped make the flower stand out more. I zoomed into the camera just befire taking the photo also i stood really closely to the flower this has helped with

This is the image after using photoshop and using the skills needed to make the flower stand out more. By me adding more color  and making the image in the centre so that there is a concentration point in the flower.
